                                     The Parks Trust Team

In most places parks are owned and managed by the local authority, but the city’s founders wanted to be sure that such a unique green landscape would be managed and protected forever, without having to compete for funds with other council priorities. So, The Parks Trust was created in 1992 to care for most of the city’s green space and was endowed with a substantial property and investment portfolio. The income from this portfolio pays for the vital work of nurturing and enhancing the landscape. We are entirely self-financing.

As well as looking after the green space, The Parks Trust also organises and enables over 450 events and activities in its parkland every year, and works with over 6,000 school children and adults through its outdoor learning programme. Sign up for The Parks Trust Newsletter via our website (www.theparkstrust.com) to stay in touch with developments and news.’

Ellie has a background in archaeology and museums, and has worked on many projects to promote mental wellbeing in the heritage sector. She is also a Dementia Friends Champion and holds Dementia Friends information sessions for the Trust and in her own time. Ellie is designing a programme of dementia friendly activities between 2020-2022 and hoping to make this self-sustainable, led and designed by the community once the project finishes.
